Richard Harris (aka. @doobarz on Twitter) is not only a poet, a husband and a father, but he is also an active member of the IBD community online, as he is the host of #IBDHour; a monthly Twitter discussion about all things related to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Richard was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2005 and it wasn’t long before he had his first surgery to have a stoma. After having many other surgeries, one of which being a failed internal pouch, he now has a permanent ileostomy. Find out more about his story on his blog: gutlessdick.com
#IBDHour is a fantastic way to encourage people who have IBD to engage with others about their conditions, not just for advice and information but for support and building friendships too. It’s so important to be able to talk to others about a condition that can often feel very isolating, and so when Richard asked me if I wanted to be a guest host of IBDHour this upcoming Thursday, of course I said yes!
Make sure you tune in on Thursday 16th February 2017 at 8:00pm GMT on Twitter! Join in the conversation by using the hashtag #IBDHour and I’ll see you then!
